tried everything...
I've suffered from acne since I was 14-I'm now 27 and have tried everything under the sun! I bought this product because my insurance wouldn't cover the 2.5% prescribed by my doctor and this was the "equivalent" product they suggested. I LOVE THIS STUFF!!! I've taken oral antibiotics, topical antibiotics/creams/gels and NOTHING has cleared me up like this stuff has. I started using it in January and my face got really dry (brutal Chicago winter) so I use Cetaphil moisturizer(the "heavier" one in the tub) religiously.Before Glytone-my acne would clear up on certain meds but I still had the dark acne spots. I have the kind of acne that sometime surfaces but for the most part just hurts and after two weeks heals and leaves a nice little spot in its memory. FINALLY, a product that WORKS!!!
I bought this based on the previous reviewer, who mentioned that nothing else seemed to work. :) I'm VERY glad that I did, too!! This stuff actually WORKS! Prior to this, I've tried Proactiv, Clearasil, Wexler Acnescription products, Charcoal soaps and Sulfur-based zit creams, but NONE of them did very much. Lots of money wasted, on hopes I'd get some relief. So I went to search yet again for a solution, and came upon the other review here, and I decided to take a chance and try this stuff.I can't begin to say how glad I am that I did! This stuff is nothing short of amazing!! Literally, a breakout I had on my forehead started to clear up the same day I applied, and has been steadily improving since (beginning of day 3 and almost entirely gone/healed!). The cream has a gritty texture, reminiscent of Proactiv's face wash, but it seems to dissolve as it dries. -So not an issue for me at all. Outstanding!!!
First time I've written a review for anything, this is definitely worth the (small) cost. If you suffer from inflammatory acne, this is a miracle. First time I used it, I didn't expect anything drastic, and was shocked a couple hours later when I went to reapply, the swelling was COMPLETELY GONE! It most definitely dries up the oily spots. Expect the (previously) inflammed area to peel extensively for at least a week, but that's because the swelling under that skin is now gone. It doesn't stop the 'watery' sweat, but absolutely stops the oil production wherever applied-- my T-zone has never been this dry! It is slightly gritty, but as I don't use foundation, it doesn't bother me in the slightest. Used sparingly, twice daily, the tube will probably last about a year, so it is VERY much worth it!

Best Acne Product yet
Started to get acne around 14, and at 16, I finally decided to buy this at my local Jewel Store and I have to say its the best product I have used to this day. I had tried everything to fight my acne, proactive, zapzyt, oxy pads, oxy cream, and some other nuetrogena products that didn't work as well. Some how my acne just came back every time. A week into using this product, my acne was 10x better and I wasn't worrying about my acne. The product at first made my skin somewhat dry, but not as dry as proactive had made my skin, but after apply moisturiser after putting on the clearasil, my skin isn't dry anymore. I am very happy that I was able to find a product that could stop my acne, and could finally stop trying to find the best product on the market, like i had done for 2 years straight. Don't have to worry about my skin anymore, lots of weight off my shoulders. Deffintaly buy this product!

The best OTC acne cream
I have used just about every single OTC acne wash/cream/astringent out there, so I was a bit skeptical when I saw an ad for this one from Clearasil. The last spot treatment product I had used was "Clean & Clear Advantage Acne Spot Treatment, .75 oz" and it did nothing. Then one day about two weeks ago this very large pimple began forming on my upper lip. I have them pop up in this area quite often and when they do they linger for about 3 weeks, it's so frustrating. Out of desperation, I decided to give Clearsil Vanishing Acne Treatment Cream a go. The instructions say to apply 1-3 times daily but I amped that up to about 8-9 because I didn't think the product would work. Well, as it turns out it worked as promised and the pimple was pretty much completely gone after just 2 days, but my lip and nose was incredibly dry (I felt really sunburned). Best of the Benzoyls
I've been using benzoyl peroxide for 10 years on my terrible terrible skin and let me tell you, I've tried most of them and this is the best. From off brand to doctor's office brands, value to top dollar, it's been on my face. This is the best.Let me first say if you've never used this before there's a good chance you will feel a "burning sensation" and if you wear it to bed it will bleach your pillows. (And that means your clothing too! and your towels if you don't wash it off your hands well enough!). With that in mind it's kind of obvious that if you over use this stuff it'll seriously dry out your skin. I recommend using Clean and Clear Dual Action Moisturizer after the Benzoyl treatment. Dont Waste Your $ On An RX!!
This product is great and is highly effective. I have worked in pharmacy for 3 years and have seen people spend a lot of money on prescription acne treatments that basically do the same thing but only cost more, especially if you dont have insurance. This strength of Benzoyl Peroxide used to be RX only, but now is over the counter. It is rather strong and I do suggest that you follow the instructions on the package, especially if you have sensitive skin, to "ease into it", even if you are tempted to put it on 2-3 times a day at the very beginning. It may cause your skin to become very dry and flaky, somewhat ruining the benefits. Overtime though, many people's skin gets used to it and then you can increase the application as neeed.As other people have mentioned this product does say that it is a gel, but in fact is a white cream and does leave some residue on the skin. The good news is that Clean & Clear has just come out with the same product as this in a clear...

The best zit cream ever
If you need to get rid of a zit fast, then this is the best out there, in my experience.I put this on any zit (or blackhead trying to become a zit) that I spy before bed, and it knocks that sucker out. It does make my skin peel a tad, and it will probably do the same to you, so be careful not to overuse. Also, make sure you use a lightweight, oil-free moisturizer as well if your skin is really sensitive.EDIT: Something else that's great: This product caused old acne scars on my chin to fade very quickly. Acne scars are the worst because even if the zit goes away it looks like you still have it! So this product is great for that as well.SECOND EDIT: I wrote this review several years ago. I am in my mid 40's, so my acne is a spot here and there. I've tried other products, but Neutrogena's On-the-Spot Acne Treatment, Vanishing Formula, has worked the best for me. It didn't dry out my skin and since it was a vanishing cream, no one knew I was using an acne product. I would recommend this product, since it worked for me!

Best Over the Counter Acne Product Money Can Buy
I've tried many over the counter and prescription acne products, and this one is definitely most effective for me. It is a 2.5% benzoyl peroxide solution which is actually more effective than the 10% solutions and is far less irritating. It's name is "On-the-Spot," but my dermatologist instructed me to use is all over as a preventative measure, as it is relatively gentle compared to some other treatments. Just use a moisturizer with sunscreen after applying it. As with ALL benzoyl peroxide treatments, there is a risk of bleaching to clothing. I've noticed that it really only bleaches lighter colors, such as pastels and some grays, but I've never had it bleach anything with bold colors such as black, navy, gold, etc.

Can't live without it, no more shiny red nose
A note about my skin-type: I am a 30s very pale-skinned female with extremely oily skin. The pale-skin reference is important, because this is a white cream, and when it dries it does provide a thin matte white layer of coverage. For me, for whom even the lightest shade of ivory makeup is normally too dark, this is a blessing. It doesn't make my face look dirty like tinted creams tend to do, and it tones down redness.This is one tried-and-true product I feel I can't live without. Primarily I use it on my nose all day, every day, to control oil and shine. It provides a long-lasting matte finish that no other product has been able to achieve.
